Recently read a blog post by Penelope Wise, The Brazen Careerist in Cville Weekly in which she argued that rather than letting technology, like Blackberries, rule our lives, we need to take control and use them mindfully (my words).
Food for thought.
Interestingly, when I went searching for a link to her article just now, I tried brazencareerist.com, and found a (seemingly) unrelated and very interesting site. So there you have it!

Yes, yes, yes. While I don't have a Blackberry myself, I do have a smartphone, and, along with all other technology I employ, try to use it mindfully. So as her article points out, at an 8 year old's soccer game is not a bad place to use it, but ruining vacations, dates, negotiations, or conversations except for emergencies is verboten. It's about making choices in the moment about what's most important. Getting Things Done by David Allen makes that point very clearly.
